For We Are Where We Are Not

Then, on the surface of being, in that region where being wants to be both visible and hidden, the movements of opening and closing are so numerous, so frequently inverted…man is half being.

– Bachelard. G, The Poetics of Space, 1964

In this series each image has been composed in response to a question asked of an individual. Using my imagination to help me understand other people and breakdown private barriers, I hope to interpret personality through photographic process and aesthetic.

Each photograph is shot through the private space of the bedroom window, a physical and metaphorical barrier, of the person who answered the question, exposing how valuable our differences are.
